Our Safety Protocols
Every pouch of MaiaMilk undergoes multiple layers of testing and quality control to ensure maximum safety and purity:
Every drop of MaiaMilk starts with a healthy, carefully screened donor. We conduct a comprehensive medical and lifestyle screening, including full bloodwork for infectious diseases. Only donors who meet the highest health standards are approved to contribute, ensuring a safe foundation for every packet.
MaiaMilk undergoes comprehensive and continuous testing — starting with donor blood screening, followed by pre-production milk testing, and final safety verification after processing. These steps screen for pathogens, drug residues, and environmental contaminants to ensure maximum safety.
Once cleared, the milk is gently pasteurized to eliminate harmful bacteria while preserving vital nutrients and immune-supportive compounds. It’s then freeze-dried into a shelf-stable powder — a breakthrough process that retains as much of the natural bioactive complexity of breast milk as possible, while maintaining safety standards and making it just as portable and convenient as formula.
MaiaMilk is processed in an FDA-registered facility that follows strict GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) guidelines. From secure storage and handling to documentation and traceability, every step is monitored to uphold the highest safety and quality standards.
How MaiaMilk Is Made
Behind every pouch is a meticulous process designed to deliver the safety of hospital-grade donor milk — now made accessible for home use.
1. Donor Screening
Donors complete a detailed health and lifestyle questionnaire and undergo a full blood panel to ensure safety from the very start.
2. Milk Collection
Qualified donors are sent a milk kit to fill with frozen breast milk from their personal stash. Once complete, it’s returned in cold storage to our Oregon facility.
3. Pre-Processing Testing at Ni-Q
Before processing begins, every milk sample is screened for bacteria, drug residues, and to confirm the human nature and source of the milk
4. Processing & Pasteurization
At the creamery, milk is gently pasteurized, filtered, and blended for nutritional consistency. A sample from each batch is then sent to a third-party lab.
5. Third-Party Testing
Each batch is sent to a third-party lab for independent testing, including heavy metals, nutrient profile, and microbial safety.
6. Freeze-Drying & Final Review
Once cleared, the milk is freeze-dried into a shelf-stable powder. Each lot is milled, packaged, and undergoes a final safety review before being released for home use.
